We start our tour at the birthplace of princess Salme; Mtoni Palace Ruins. Here we go on a detailed tour around the Persian baths, the main palace and its botanical gardens, then enjoy a traditional coffee ceremony with Kashata, Halua and dates in the Palace Ruins. From Princess Salme birthplace we enjoy a 30 minutes boat ride to Bububu where you will find your driver waiting to take you to Kidichi and Kizimbani plantations, we used to travel to Kidichi by Donkey Cart like Princess Salme used to but due to some reasons we stopped that. We visit the spice plantations to go on a detailed spice tour at Mzee Yussuf’s private spice farm. On this plantation stand the ruins of an old rest house which belonged to Sultan Majid (Salme’s brother) who later sold it to Mzee Yussuf’s grand grand father.

Mzee Yussuf’s wife will prepare traditional Pilau, fish masala, roast beef, stewed bananas, kachumbari salad, several vegetarian dishes, an array of fruits, fresh fruit juice and his famous spice tea. This special lunch is taken in One of Mzee Yussuf’s house near the Spice plantation.

After lunch, we visit the Persian baths in Kidichi which were built for Sultan Said’s second wife Binti Irich Mirza (Sheherazade), who was the daughter of the Persian Shah. After the tour we will take you back to respective hotels.

The trip in a motorized boat will take you to the secluded island of Chumbe which manages natural reserve, with forest and marine nature trails, one kilometer of totally protected and untouched reef, a historic lighthouse (built in 1904) and an old mosque.

The biggest attractions of the island are the peaceful and natural environment. You will journey through the special nature trails passing a tunnel of fascinating indigenous undergrowth, listening to birds and small animals going about their uninterrupted business.

More than 40 species of birds have been identified on the island, including the endangered Roseate Tern. Snorkeling in the Reef Sanctuary is amazing; an uninterrupted coral garden stretches right from the shallow beach to a drop-off to about 16 metres deep, teeming with thousands of colourful fish belonging to 370 families, which is among the highest diversity found anywhere along the East African Coast.

Turtles and dolphins regularly visit the reef, and spiny lobsters peed out of their hostels confident that nobody will hunt for them, and you may even seen a huge grouper living only a few metres under the surface on the drop-off.

From Stone town you can see this interesting island where giant tortoises were imported from Aldabra Seychelles since 1919, half an hour from Stone town a nice place for snorkeling and sunbathing.

This island was used as quarantine, before the British built the prison for stone town in 1890s. The building never used as a prison though
